How’s it work?
Our community thrives on kind but constructive critique in a custom-built “peer feedback forum.” Writers post sections of the stories they’re writing. Quick critiques from readers and fellow writers are aggregated into useful Story Scores.
What’s in it for Writers and Readers?
Writers join RC1 to hear from readers and fellow writers what’s working in their stories and how they can level up. Readers join to interact with up-and-coming authors they want to support. Together, we’re offering encouragement and constructive feedback to one another, helping democratize the publishing industry for new writers who dream of being discovered.

I’m Fred Koehler, Founder of RC1
Ready Chapter 1 was born out of the pandemic when I asked all of my writer friends what they needed to progress their careers. The overwhelming response was twofold: Education and Networking.
In all my years in publishing, I’d never seen a program that provided all the right tools at the key moments writers need them in the writing, polishing, and pitching process. But that’s where we’re headed.
I won’t pretend I’m not terrified. This program was initially funded out of my own pocket until investors came along and saw the promise. There will be hiccups. But Helen Keller says that life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all. So here we go, on an adventure. Are you READY?
